Job Description:
Our Ottawa-based government client is seeking an Application Software Architect for a 2 yr contract (with 2-1yr optional periods).
Candidates must possess Enhanced Reliability security clearance.
Tasks include:
• Design, document and develop components for enterprise scale application architecture in response to emerging system to system integration requirements as well as emerging business needs such as event management, scanning and multi-media content management.
• Employ object-oriented analysis and design techniques including use case analysis, object modeling, and database schema design to ensure business requirements and design goals are met.
• Prepare technical documentation, development standards and guidelines for the proposed architecture based on the RUP/UML standards.
• Prepare concept of operation as well as detailed architecture documents supporting of the security certification and accreditation process.
• Design and develop system integration interfaces, processes and operational procedures.
• Participate in application architecture planning (including system partitioning and framework design) to determine optimal solution architecture in order to meet non-functional requirements.
• Tuning, testing and validating performance and scalability of the proposed architectural components using prototype applications.

The ideal candidate will have::
minimum of 10 years of cumulative experience as system analyst, programmer/software developer, application architect on various system development or maintenance projects. experience with each of the following technological environments: • N-tier transactional web application developed using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, COM/COM+, ASP 3.0, Oracle RDBMS, N-tier transactional web application using the STRUT or JSF framework and Java EE version 2 or higher,a minimum of 5 years experience as a major contributor or as the lead application/software architect on at least one large enterprise information management system development projects where requirements such as scalability, performance, availability and reliability were critical success factor.a minimum of 5 years experience as the lead application/software architect on at least one successful legacy system modernization or re-engineering projecta minimum of 3 years experience as the lead application/software architect on application development project(s) using Java EE 2 or highera minimum of 3 years of experience in assessing application and database workload/performance and recommending optimization design scenarios with at least one (1) instance of experience using Java, Oracle and Hibernatea valid Sun Enterprise Architect (SCEA) certificationa University degree in Computer Science, Computer engineering, Software engineering or equivalent.demonstrated experience as developer or lead application architect on an N-tier transactional web application developed using Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, COM/COM+, ASP 3.0 and Oracledemonstrated experience as developer or lead application architect on an N-tier transactional web application using the STRUT or JSF framework and Java EE version 2 or higher.
