Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking a Systems Analyst for a contract position running for two years, with an additional optional 1 year period.
All candidates must possess reliability clearance.
Bilingualism is considered an asset.
The System Analyst must provide:
-Level of effort and time estimates. Level of effort and time estimates must be submitted via email and/or by completing the Progress Report Template for all assigned tasks;
-Written comments must be submitted by email or inserted directly into the DEAIS business requirements and DEAIS functional specifications documents with regards to the clarity and validity of the processes and functions that are defined in the documents;
-Functional specifications document. This document must define and describe the functions of a system. Functional requirements may be calculations, technical details, data manipulation and processing and other specific functionality that defines a system;
-Process flow diagrams. Process flow diagrams must be inserted directly on the functional specifications document. A process flow diagram captures the control flow structure of a business process as a chain of events and functions as described in the Business Requirements document. Microsoft Office Visio must be used in the creation of process flow diagrams;
-Data model and data dictionary that are in accordance with departmental database standards and guidelines. Data modelling tools such as Power Designer, Visio must be used for the development and maintenance of the data model. The format of the data dictionary must be Microsoft Office Suite e.g. Excel;
-Written technical correspondence on data analysis, data verification and data cleanup for the applications being maintained;
-Written data analysis report, database scripts that are in accordance with departmental database standards and guidelines. Written data analysis must be submitted in the format of Microsoft Office Suite, e.g. Excel and Word. Database conversion and database migration scripts must be submitted in the format of .SQL files;
-Technical analysis report. Technical analysis reports of a legacy application within the DEAIS application portfolio must include analysis of the current design and technical recommendations on improvements;
-Impact analysis document. This document must include the detailed description of the newly requested enhancements, analysis of technical changes, impact of changes on current application, and documentation, level of effort and recommendations;
-Written status report. Written status report must be submitted via email. A template will be provided by the Technical Authority; and
-Written meeting minutes. Written meeting minutes must be submitted via email as requested.

The ideal candidate will have::
experience in a minimum of 3 projects in the last 7 years developing and maintaining functional specifications based on business requirements and/or functional requirementsexperience in a minimum of 3 projects in the last 5 years in developing and maintaining database scripts using PL/SQL and Transact-SQL.experience in a minimum of 3 projects in the last 7 years in performing data analysis, data conversion, and data migration into applications.experience in a minimum of 3 projects in the last 7 years in data modelling for SQL Server and Oracle databaseexperience working with SQL Server database version 2000 or higher.experience working with Oracle database version 9i and 10g.experience developing and maintaining PL/SQL database scripts using SQL Navigator.experience developing and maintaining Transact-SQL database scripts.experience producing software functional specifications based on business requirements.experience in the use of Sybase PowerDesigner version 9 or higher.
