Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking a Systems Analyst Level 3 for a contract position running for a 2 years, as well as two additional 1 year contract options.

All candidates must possess reliability clearance.

TASKS/DELIVERABLES:

•In conjunction with subject matter experts, develop and document a detailed statement of requirements, functional specifications and detailed design document for the development of new or re-engineered OMS modules.
•Review and provide feedback on the detailed design and statement of requirements for the proposed application.
•Perform business analyses of functional requirements to identify information, procedures, and decision flows.
•Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and documents items such as database content, structure, application subsystems, and develop data dictionary.
•Identify, define and document the nature and parameters of any system to system interfaces in the context of an end to end business process.
•In the context of the OMS Re-engineering project, identify candidate business processes for re-design and contribute to the development of more efficient processes and supporting system functionalities.
•Contribute to the development of prototype for potential solutions, provide alternate solutions where the proposed approach is too complex or otherwise not viable and suggest a recommended course of action.
•Support and use the selected departmental and project methodologies, templates and procedures.
•Provide management with accurate estimates for the requirement gathering and detailed analysis phase of the project for planning purpose.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a minimum of 10 years of experience as System Analyst in working with subject matter experts from functional area in gathering and documenting functional requirements and preparing detailed design documents in the context of information system development projects
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience documenting functional and non functional requirements using the UML standards.
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience in working with application developers, data modelers and quality assurance specialist to insure that business requirements are well understood and reflected in the design of the application
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience as System Analysis on at least one system re-engineering project where the proposed resource has been involved on the project from inception to implementation
  • a post-secondary education in Computer Science, software engineering or another discipline related to the position
  • experience in working with project managers and clients to prepare detailed work breakdown structure and estimates for the requirement gathering phase of system development projects
  • demonstrated experience in contributing to a change management process by identifying, evaluating and performing detailed impact assessment on change requests or new requirements exceeding the agreed upon scope for the projecT
  • experience working as an administrator and/or user with Rational Clear Case and Clear Quest
  • demonstrated experience in working with Rational Requisite Pro in the documentation and management of business requirements
