Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking a Business Systems Analyst for a contract position running for 2 years with optional additional 1 year contract period.

All candidates must possess reliability clearance.

Bilingualism is considered an asset.

The Business System Analyst must:

-Elicit business requirements from DEAIS clients through meetings, interviews and questionnaires. Organize and chair meetings with DEAIS personnel to discuss the client’s new requirements in order to gather supporting information and to understand the expectations from the perspective of the functional analysts, project managers and programmer analysts;
-Produce a document with options and recommendations for the client including rough cost estimates and timelines. This document is to be used by the client to determine whether or not they want to go ahead with the project;
-Create the business requirement document in MS Word format, which must be a deliverable to the Technical Authority;
-Create the functional specifications document of an approved project within the DEAIS application portfolio for use in application programming and IM/IT software maintenance activities;
-Provide project scope, schedules and cost management using project management methodologies and procedures from project initiation to close-out; and
-Provide a bi-weekly status report outlining work in progress, work completed, and work planned using a template that will be provided by the Technical Authority.

Other Requirements:
-Experience creating functional specifications and/or design documents. -Experience obtaining business requirements from a group of clients/users

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience in gathering, defining, and documenting business requirements to facilitate the design and development of business solutions.
  • a minimum of 3 years of experience in working with business clients to define the vision and scope of a proposed solution
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience leading business case development, and supporting activities, including options analysis, fit-gap analysis, and/or cost-benefit analysis
  • a minimum of 5 years of experience in creating project resource estimates, project plans and schedules for all phases of the project life cycle, including but not limited to project initiation, project planning, project implementation, and project close-out
  • a minimum of 3 years of experience in working from conception to implementation of a Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for the development and maintenance of new and existing systems
  • a minimum of 3 years of experience in converting business requirements into functional specifications for handover to technical teams to support programming changes and/or interface development
  • a minimum of 2 years of experience in facilitating Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions, Use Case workshops, and/or design walkthroughs
  • experience creating use cases and use diagrams using UML
  • experience in Business Process Re-engineering
  • experience working with any Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Methodology
