Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking an Application/Software Architect (C/Interbase/Oracle) – Level 3 for a contract position. Contract running from date of award to March 31, 2013 with two additional 1 year option periods.
All candidates must possess Reliability Clearance.
The Application/Software Architect (Level 3) (C/Interbase/Oracle) must perform, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
a) Develop technical architectures, frameworks and strategies, for the Legacy OMS to meet the business and application requirements.
b) Performing requirement gathering sessions with users, and translating the requirements into system specifications.
c) Prepare work estimates.
d) Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology.
e) Analyze functional requirements to identify information, procedures and decision flows.
f) Evaluate existing procedures and methods, identify and document database content, structure, and application sub-systems, and develop data dictionary.
g) Define and document interfaces of manual to automated operations within application sub-systems, to external systems and between new and existing systems.
h) Identify and document system specific standards relating to programming, documentation and testing, covering program libraries, data dictionaries, naming conventions.
i) Performing application performance tuning by reviewing triggers, indexes, access statements, order by statements, to utilize efficiency in systems resources and increase user response time.
j) Monitor industry trends to ensure that solutions fit with government and industry directions for technology.
k) Identify the policies and requirements that would determine the flow for a particular solution.
l) Performing system analysis, designing, data modeling, developing, testing and writing of user and technical documentation.
m) Making changes to the Legacy Application.
i) Programming application software using Powerhouse.
ii) Programming application software using Interbase.
n) Reading Powerhouse code to extract Business Rules.
o) Reading Interbase DDL code to extract Business Rules.
p) Programming application software using C, C/GDML and Pro*C.
Other Requirements:
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.a, as a Team Leader, performing activities such as supervising other team members, coordinating development activities for modular development, and preparing comprehensive work estimates.
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.h, in maintaining relational database(s) for software applications.
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.i, programming with C.
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.j, performing C/GDML or Pro*C programming.
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.f, writing software applications using the Cognos Powerhouse products.
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.g, writing software applications using the Borland Interbase product.
-Experience working within a distributed HP ALPHA/AXP, VMS/Open VMS-based environment, including activities such as system analysis, designing, data modeling, developing, testing and writing of user and technical documentation
-Experience in excess of that outlined in mandatory criteria 1.4.e, with HP ALPHA/AXP series of mini computers, using VMS or OpenVMS (version 6.2 or higher) operating system environments.
The ideal candidate will have::
a minimum of two (2) years experience within the last four (4) years as a Team Leader, performing activities such as supervising other team members, coordinating development activities for modular development, and preparing comprehensive work estimatesa minimum of five (5) years experience in the last seven (7) years in performing design work on large scale databasesa minimum of five (5) years experience within the last eight (8) years in performing requirement gathering sessions with users, and translating the requirements into system specificationsa minimum of five (5) years experience within the last eight (8) years performing system analysis, designing, data modeling, developing, testing and writing of user and technical documentationa minimum of five (5) years experience within the past ten (10) with HP ALPHA/AXP series of mini computers, using VMS or OpenVMS (version 6.2 or higher) operating system environmentsa minimum of six (6) years experience writing software applications using the Cognos Powerhouse productsa minimum of five (5) years experience writing software applications using the Borland Interbase producta minimum of five (5) years of experience in maintaining relational database(s) for software applicationsa minimum of seven (7) years experience programming with Ca minimum of three (3) years experience within the last five (5) years performing C/GDML or Pro*C programming.
