Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking a Tester - Level 2 for a 2 year contract position, with 2 additional one year contract options.

All candidates must possess reliability clearance.

TASKS/DELIVERABLES:

•Based on the functional specification documents, Develop comprehensive test plan, test cases, test scripts and expected results covering all of the application’s functionality.
•Develop automated scripts for functional and performance testing.
•Design test plan and strategies for all aspect of complex system maintenance, enhancement and re-engineering. This includes data conversion and transformation, functional security testing, forms, reports, etc.
•Implement solutions for a Quality Assurance (QA) lab configuration with multiple complex environments including clustered and geographically distributed system operating over a wide area network.
•Provide guidance and technical recommendation to the IMS QA team
•Prepare test environments and tools
•Execute functional tests and provide consistent, complete and accurate defect reports to the development team.
1. By consistent we mean that defect reports have the same structure and contain the same element of information.
2. By complete means that all required information has been provided all the time and that there is enough information for a defect to be re-produced.
3. By accurate we mean that if steps described in the defect report are being executed exactly as described, the results will be the same as what is described in the defect report.
•Collaborate with the development team in re-producing and identifying scenarios resulting in anomalies in the system’s behaviour.
•Execute regression testing.
•Provide management with accurate estimates for planning purpose.
•Provide regular update to management on the current state of the application being tested throughout the quality assurance process.
•Liaise with clients and the development team during the user acceptance phase
•Review application problems reported through the support process to determine the validity and cause of the problem.

The ideal candidate will have::

a post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer technology, Computer engineering or Software engineering or equivalenT

minimum of 4 years of cumulative experience in performing functional testing activities on information management systems as part of a formal testing team in the context of system development or maintenance activities.

minimum of 4 years of experience in performing functional testing activities for data migration and/or data consolidation and/or any batch processing which requires the utilization of low level verification and validation procedures such as direct database access through SQL scripts and queries

minimum of 1 year of experience working with the following Rational testing automation tools; • Rational Functional Tester, • Rational Robot, • Rational Test Manager
