Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking a Programmer/Software Developer (VB 6ASP) Level 3 for a contract position running for a 2 year contract position, as well as two additional 1 year contract options.
All candidates must possess reliability clearance.
TASKS/DELIVERABLES:
•In conjunction with CSC employees, review the current application infrastructure requirements to identify gaps and to identify strategies to update the current infrastructure to meet future application requirements;
•Provide input to the applications architects regarding matters of functionality, maintainability, integration with current application and architectural directions;
•Develop Web-based maintenance and enhancement code in ASP and Visual Basic 6, COM+ middle tier objects;
•Conduct performance analysis and tuning for enterprise scale Web applications to identify performance bottlenecks and recommend alternate courses of action;
•Develop proof of concept and/or test models for new releases, patches and/or bug fixes on an as required basis;
•Develop detailed specifications for components in collaboration with the Application Architect;
•Interface, integrate, and/or adapt other applications such as PCIMM and PADS-R into the OMS enterprise Web application;
•Review and/or develop transmission protocols;
•Develop models and scripts for data migration and data integration;
•Participate in code review JAD sessions.

The ideal candidate will have::
a minimum of 10 years of experience as programmer/software developer creating and modifying software code, developing functional specifications and design documentation.a minimum of 7 years of experience as programmer/software developer performing maintenance activities on medium or large (50+ Screens or equivalent) Legacy applications. a minimum of 5 years of experience in application development or maintenance using Visual Basic 6, ASP 3.0, HTML, JavaScript, COM+ and Active-X controls.a minimum of 2 years of experience in application development or maintenance using an Oracle database. Must include development and/or maintenance of PL/SQL package, stored procedures to be called from a Visual Basic 6.0 application.a Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Computer technology, Computer engineering or Software engineering or equivalentdemonstrated experience in Web application development or maintenance using Visual Basic 6, ASP 3.0, HTML, JavaScript, COM+, Active-X controls.demonstrated experience in application development or maintenance using Oracle databases. Must include development and/or maintenance of PL/SQL package, stored procedures to be called from a Visual Basic 6.0 applicationexperience developing reports using Active Reports (Data Dynamics).experience working in a multi-team environment where application developers must communicate and rely on others teams (e.g. Testing, Database Engineering, Data Modeling, Configuration management and environment management). In order to accomplish their workexperience working with Rational Clear Case and Clear Quest in the context of system development or maintenance activities.
