Job Description:
Our Ottawa based client is seeking an Application Software Architect Level 2 for a contract position. Contract running from date of award to March 2011.

All candidates must possess Reliability Clearance.

Tasks and Deliverables

The Intermediate Application/Software Architects will work closely with the Information Management teams in the delivery of the following tasks, services and deliverables.

Tasks – Application/Software Architect Level 2
The Application/Software Architect Level 2 shall be responsible for the delivery of the following tasks and services:
•Develop new user requirements or change requests that combine the new requirements with/without those of existing applications;
•Perform technical analysis of new user requirements or change requests;
•Develop a detailed data access design specification for business requirements
•Design data access architecture components using Cognos 8 software;
•Program new data access components using Cognos 8 software;
•Modify existing modules using Cognos 8 software;
•Develop a comprehensive site plan identifying expected navigation for the new data access system;
•Perform unit, functional and performance stress testing on both the User and Database components of the application while documenting results;
•Create and update detailed design specifications (DDS) in order to develop modules;
•Update the ticket tracker application as tickets are updated, and resolved;
•Provide technical data access solutions and make recommendations whenever possible;
•Provide an estimated level of effort for tasks;
•Ensure the quality of the work is developed according to standards already established and documented;
•Contribute to the exchange of resource information throughout the Agency;
•Provide weekly status reports, based on the template provided; and
•Attend status and other meetings as required.

Other Requirements:
- The proposed resource must have a minimum of four (4) years of professional work experience designing and developing data warehouse architecture specific data access components. - The proposed resource must have professional work experience creating dimensional models. - The proposed resource must have a minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience utilizing the Cognos version 8 suite of software tools. - The proposed resource must have professional work experience developing data architecture design specifications. - The proposed resource must have professional work experience analyzing business requirements to determine functional and non-functional specifications.

The ideal candidate will have::
  • a minimum of four (4) years professional work experience designing and developing data access components
  • a minimum of three (3) years of professional work experience designing and developing data warehouse architecture specific data access components
  • a minimum of two (2) years of professional work experience utilizing the Cognos version 8 suite of software tools
  • a minimum of four (4) years professional work experience creating dimensional models
  • professional work experience developing data architecture design specifications
  • have professional work experience analyzing business requirements to determine functional and non-functional specifications
  • an undergraduate degree or college diploma in information management/information technology or related discipline
